Welcome to the Fordyce community website!
This website is designed for both residents and visitors alike, to provide local information, both historical and topical. Many events take place in the surrounding area – from regular car boot sales to ceilidhs and the ever-successful Fordyce Open Day.
This website is run by local website designers Virtual Eye Media, and in its first few months has established itself as a valuable resource, with thousands of ‘hits’ registered.
Having established the website, we would now like to invite any interested parties to submit any articles of interest/news pieces/event information which they feel may be of interest. Please submit any information in the form of an email to editor@fordyce.org.uk. All emails will be personally answered.
The Coat of Arms which is shown on our banner here was granted to Fordyce on the 10th of May 1999 to mark the 500th anniversary of a charter being granted to Bishop William Elphinstone to create the village as a Burgh of Barony.
Over the centuries Fordyce has, and continues to be, a thriving village, providing a fantastic sense of community and pride for all of its inhabitants.
In recent years the village has increased its profile by the inception of its annual ‘Open day’ and by the regular coffee mornings, extremely popular ‘soup and sweet’ events, and various social gatherings, held either in the Village Hall or in Fordyces’ unique Joiner’s Workshop.
All of these events are designed to enhance the sense of community within the village, and to help fund various initiatives such as the creation of a Woodland Walk on the edge of the village and the modernization of the Fordyce Village Hall itself.

Fordyce Primary School
The pupils at Fordyce Primary School have been working hard to produce designs for a significant revamp of the public garden in School Road.
This redesign has been instigated by the Community Association taking over responsibility for the garden form Aberdeenshire Council.
The centrepiece of the garden is a beautiful sundial which has been created by the village’s resident harp maker, Tim Hobrough.
The designs can now be viewed HERE!
Fordyce Hall Project
The Fordyce Hall Redevelopment continues with renewed impetus this year.
Planning permission was granted in November 2009 for the proposed works to the Hall which will bring it bang up to date and provide an enhanced community facility.
The Hall, although well maintained, has received no major work since the late 1970’s, and is now in urgent need of updating. Improvements are required in areas such as disabled access, kitchen facilities, heating, insulation, and the flat roof on the rear extension is now in need of replacement. Funding will be sought from a wide range of agencies to help the Community Association carry out these works.
