Fordyce Community Association

Fordyce Community Association is an extremely busy and enthusiastic group which aims to enhance village life within Fordyce. The Association can trace its roots back to the early 1970’s, and we have active members within the Association who have been involved since the very beginning!

Fordyce Community Hall - Reasons For Redevelopment
Since it was acquired from the Church of Scotland in the late 1970s the Community Hall has become a focus for an extensive range of activities. It has been and remains the primary focus for social events and a venue for social groups, clubs, organisations, religious & church groups and charity fund-raising events .

fordyce village hallIt is also the location for various Local, Scottish and UK Government matters and those of other statutory bodies such as the Local Authority and the Local Health Board. Following the loss of our village shop and, more recently, the village Post Office, the Community Hall is vital to the future social and physical health of this small but vibrant community.

The facilities within the Hall were developed in the 1970s and reflect the statutory regulations in force at that time; the enormous changes that have taken place in the intervening years, in such fields as Health & Safety and Hygiene, have been reflected in the management procedures of the hall but the physical and working environment and facilities are no longer ‘fit for purpose’. Likewise the need for cost effective heating and energy conservation demand the redevelopment and enhancement of the Hall and its associated facilities.

The management group has organised a number of consultations with user groups and organisations and the public to ensure that the redeveloped Hall will meet the needs of all parties involved; it embarked on focused fund-raising for a ring fenced Development Fund and, with the assistance of relevant professionals, successfully sought all necessary and statutory permissions such as Planning and Building Warrant.

The next step is to seek the support of funding bodies so that sufficient funding is available to complete the redevelopment; without it the community will be without a heart.

The Business Plan for redevelopment will soon appear here in a pdf format for all to review and make helpful suggestions.
If you have any ideas now, please email editor@fordyce.org.uk.
All suggestions will be personally replied to.
